He later pursued his Master of Science in Chemistry at Addis Ababa University, where he studied from September 2010 to June 2012. His postgraduate studies, completed with a GPA of 3.15, focused on advancing his understanding of physical and analytical chemistry. Since July 2012, Tekalign has been a core faculty member at Madda Walabu University, located in the South Eastern Oromia Region. In 2016, he collaborated with Theodros Solomon to study the “Electro-Oxidation of Catechol in the Presence of 4, 4-bipyridine” published in the American Journal of Physical Chemistry. He explored heavy metal removal using rice husk with Belete Geremew in a 2017 issue of Chemistry and Materials Research. His 2015 literature review on meat quality in Ethiopia was featured in Food Science and Quality Management. Tekalign also examined the environmental impact of biodiesel in a 2017 Journal of Energy Technologies and Policy article co-authored with Fisseha Gebrewold. His work on “Polymers and Their Application in Light Emitting Diodes” was published in Advances in Physics Theories and Applications in the same year. In 2016, he assessed nanotechnology applications and risks in the International Journal of Advanced Research.
